Rocky Horror Picture Show - Obrien Im Not Interested In Rocky Horror Remake

Richard O'Brien says he will not give his blessing to a remake of the cult greco-Roman The Rocky Horror Picture Show.

The former Crystal Maze presenter asterisked and co-wrote the screenplay for the 1975 original of the camp film and had been named co-producer for the new version.

But he has now said he had non been approached about the movie and ruled out involvement "in any way".

O'Brien told the BBC: "I'm not co-producing it and I won't be tortuous in whatever way. The first I heard close to it was when people sent me cuttings from US papers."

Original executive producer Lou Adler has announced he plans to return to his original role for the remake, which will be financed part by the UK's Sky Movies and partly by MTV.

Adler aforesaid the Rocky Horror "phenomenon" had "reincarnated itself in numerous ways" since its birth as a stage show in 1973.

The 1975 movie, leading Tim Curry and Susan Sarandon, elevated it to cult position. Songs including The Time Warp and I Can Make You A Man are expected to feature in the remake.
